What is the Collaboratory Project?
The Collaboratory Project is an ambitious initiative supporting research collaborations between universities and civic organisations to address pressing societal challenges. The Universities Partnership’s 2025/26 project proposal has been unveiled, marking an exciting step in fostering meaningful engagement between researchers, academics, and community stakeholders.
The project is designed to:
- Foster partnerships that create sustainable, evidence based solutions
- Bridge the gap between academia and civic institutions
- Provide early-career researchers with opportunities to contribute to real world impact
- Support research project that align with local and national priorities
Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Project
Supported by the Universities Partnership Collaboratory seeks to support new collaborations between researchers from De Montfort University, Loughborough University, and University of Leicester, and civic and community-focused organisations in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
This matters as the Collaboratory project plays a crucial role in strengthening connections between universities and civic bodies, fostering impactful, community-driven research, and enhancing Leicester’s reputation as a hub for collaborative innovation. Providing early-career research with funding and placement opportunities ensures that research initiatives will help in addressing local community challenges, ultimately driving positive change in local and global communities.
