The University of Leicester, De Montfort University and the City of Leicester are proudly home to an incredibly diverse student population which includes many Black students. A large part of settling into a new town is being able to find amenities and services that can help you feel like part of the community and the sooner students can feel settled, the better experience they have in their new living situation.
To help Black students settle into Leicester as soon as possible, the University of Leicester and De Montfort’s Students’ Union have collaborated on a Black Students’ Guide to Leicester. The aim of this guide is to provide students with peer-recommended and reviewed businesses and services such as grocery shops, hairdressers and barbers, and community groups, so Black students can find them as soon as possible when they first arrive in our City.
You can access a PDF version of the guide, or view the expanded version along with more cultural hotspots to explore.
